Jeff and Vanessa Tranel on the death of Jeff’s sister Sherri Tranel. She passed away on May 31, 2018 in Gillette, Wyoming. Services were held June 8 and 9. Personal Information: I was born in New Hampshire, grew up in Maryland, and traveled widely while in the Air Force. I moved to Colorado in 2016 after coming out for 10 years to visit our son. My wife and I love living here, we enjoy hiking and just being outside.

Sharon King

Name: Sharon King

Title: Accounting Technician III

Location: Extension State Fiscal Office

Date of Hire: May 2018

Personal Information: I enjoy most any activity that involves being outdoors, especially hiking, camping, biking etc. I also enjoy continuously learning new things and have interests in a multitude of areas including Plant, Animal and Earth Sciences. I also enjoy traveling to new places, meeting new people and learning about different cultures.

Job Experience: 24 years in Government, of which 6 years have been in Higher Education.

Lisa Mason

Name: Lisa Mason

Title: Extension Agent – Horticulture

Location: Arapahoe County

Date of Hire: June 2018

Personal Information: I grew up in Centennial, Colorado, and lived in Fort Collins for the last 15 years. My husband, Mike and I are looking forward to being closer to family in Arapahoe County. When I am not at work, I enjoy being outside! Hiking, jogging half marathons, bird watching, yoga, volunteering, arts and crafts are some of my favorite things to do. I volunteer for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation in Denver and volunteered at the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program for 9 years.

Job Experience: Prior to my new position, I worked for the Colorado State Forest Service for 10 years at the state office leading statewide education and outreach programs, including the publications program. My Master’s Degree research focused on native bees in urban areas using citizen science. I started a citizen science program monitoring bees called Native Bee Watch (nativebeewatch.wordpress.com).

Kim Massey

Name: Kim Massey

Title: Site Coordinator, Family Leadership Training Institute

Personal Information: I have been in Colorado for over 30 years and feel very lucky to live here. I enjoy hiking and trail running, road biking and most recently social dancing. I am currently working with a local farmer to establish an urban farm on my property…we just put up the first high tunnel in Lakewood!

Job Experience: Prior to working for Jefferson County Extension, I worked for the National Renewable Energy Lab managing a group of engineers. I semi-retired from that position to work with non-profits and community engagement.
