Name: Abi Saeed

Title: Extension Agent – Agriculture, Horticulture, and Natural Resources

Location: Garfield County

Date of Hire: May2018

Personal Information: I was born in Pakistan and Immigrated to Canada with my family when I was 11 years old. I have enjoyed learning about different landscapes and climates throughout my life- but the mountains and the desert are my favorite places to be. I enjoy spending time outdoors: and love to hike, camp, and look for interesting new insects to add to my collection. I also love to talk about Entomophagy, and enjoy introducing others to the world of edible insects. I have a passion for Rugby; I played competitively for 5 years, and coached the University of Kentucky Women’s Rugby team for 2 years. My other hobbies include beekeeping, learning new languages, playing with my cats, making jewelry, and posing with insects and spiders on my face.

Job Experience: Prior to this position, I was a Consumer Horticulture Program Instructor and Master Gardener Coordinator for Michigan State University Extension, based in Flint. In addition to that, I have held positions focused on Solitary Bee research, and interactions between Pollinators and Pesticides within Ornamental Plants in Kentucky.

Reid Sweetkind

Name: Reid Sweetkind

Title: Extension Agent – 4-H Youth Development

Location: Jefferson County

Date of Hire: May2018

Personal Information: I grew up in Golden, Colorado. Most of my free time is spent with my family and friends outdoors hiking in the Rockies, cooking, or quilting. I also enjoy painting and photography.

Job Experience: Prior to joining CSU Extension as an Agent, I completed CSU Extension STEM AmeriCorps service in Jefferson County in 2015/2016. During my masters’ work, I focused on the intersection of the formal education and informal education environments through multiple positions on the university campus.

Education:
2015 H.B.S. Biology with a minor in Chemistry, Oregon State University
2018 M.S. Museum and Field Studies emphasis in Informal Education, University of Colorado – Boulder
