Lawn & Landscape Diagnostic Site Visits

Arapahoe County Extension’s professional horticulture staff can provide on-site lawn, tree and landscape site visits for a small fee to help with identifying and solving insect, disease and other lawn problems. Contact our office for more information.

How it works

Lawn and landscape diagnostics are more accurate when examining the total situation, including irrigation coverage. We will make every effort to diagnose an issue prior to a site visit by asking questions, looking at photos and examining samples. If an accurate diagnosis cannot be completed through this method, horticulture staff can schedule a site visit. A site visit can help diagnose the root problem and provide safe and effective recommendations for:

  • Thinning lawns
  • Dying lawns
  • Failing newly seeded or sodded lawns
  • Older problem lawns
  • Weedy lawns
  • Lawns with brown spots
  • Thinning trees
  • Trees with insects and disease
  • Trees that are declining in health
  • Emerald Ash Borer checks

Fees & additional information

The cost of a site visit is $75 for up to one hour on-site, with verbal recommendations provided. Checks may be payable to Arapahoe County Extension at time of site visit. Laboratory analysis, if desired, can be done through the CSU Soil, Water and Plant Testing Lab for an additional charge.

Please contact our office to schedule a site visit with horticulture staff. As an educational organization, Extension staff provides unbiased, reliable advice and will not use site visits to promote specific landscape care products or services. Please note staff will not be able to address hazard tree issues. If you believe you have a hazard tree situation, please call a certified for arborist for a consultation.
