Each project has its own record book that members are required to complete each year. Record books have a few times to be checked on progress throughout the year:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In June, your 4-H leader will be sure your books are started and up to date.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prior to showing at the Boulder County Fair, your record books will be checked by your superintendent to be sure they are up to date and complete as can be in order to participate and show at the fair.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Final livestock record books are due to be received at the Extension office by the second Thursday in September. Animals must be halter broken and have a halter on to smoothly go through the identification process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a tabindex=\"0\" class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/www.signupgenius.com\/go\/8050949AAA728A3FA7-61842442-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Sign up for a time Slot<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please review available slots and select one slot per trailer for up to three head of cattle. If you have more than three heads, you must select another adjacent time spot. Example: 6 steers in one trailer = 30 minutes reserved together. Sign up with your full name and the number of animals. Please be on time. If members arrive late, they may have to wait on site for an open slot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reminder: Bring $5 cash per animal tag.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Checklist of steps to prepare for tag-in:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Obtain a brand inspection of your animals <strong>in the 4-H member&#8217;s name<\/strong>. Even if the animal was born on your property, you need to have a brand inspector write a brand paper for you in your 4-H member\u2019s name (not a parent\u2019s name).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Download, print, and fill out the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/extension.colostate.edu\/boulder\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/33\/2026\/07\/2026-Beef-Nomination-Form.pdf\">State Fair Nomination Form<\/a><\/strong> that we use for all Boulder County Market Beef. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Get a <strong>Colorado Premise Identification number (LID#)<\/strong> where your animal lives. Each member must have a Premise identification number or Colorado Location Identification Number to participate in the Boulder County Fair. This is the location where your animal is housed.
