The concept
The garden was created and planted with a focus on access and exploration for all abilities and backgrounds. There are seven raised beds showcasing vegetable varieties and growing techniques, including a sensory garden and, of course, Broomfield’s namesake, Broomcorn! CSU Extension hosts field trips and community classes for adults, youth and families. Find current programs at compass.broomfield.org, and subscribe to the CSU Extension monthly newsletter to stay up to date on new garden programs.
Community connections
Colorado Master Gardeners lead the planting and maintenance of the garden, with help from other community volunteers. Garden harvests are donated to Broomfield FISH on a regular basis through Grow and Give, a statewide project from CSU Extension that helps get backyard produce to Coloradans in need.
Location
The Teaching Vegetable Garden is located behind the Brunner Farmhouse on the northeast corner of West Midway Blvd. and Main Street. The gardens are open to the public at all times.
