NASA-SoI Mini-Grants - Congratulations!

Two NASA SoI mini-grants are being awarded to CSU Extension within the Peaks & Plains Region. NASA’s SoI program is designed to provide organizations with funding to aid their efforts in bringing STEM education to middle school age youth.

Mick Livingston (PI) & Molly Witzel in Kit Carson County and Anne Casey & Michael Fisher in Pueblo County are receiving $2500 for equipment to develop an aeronautics program. They will be using radio controlled drones & helicopters to teach about principles of flight (force, thrust, drag, lift, weight, balance, & gravity). They also hope to use the drones to teach youth about the changes in weather at different altitudes.

Anne Casey (PI) in Pueblo County is receiving $2500 to purchase a solar telescope and associated equipment. The solar telescope is designed to safely allow people to view images of the sun. This will supplement a program being conducted in collaboration with the Pueblo County schools.

Make sure you are taking time off this summer to reflect and relax. For some of you, fair season is right around the corner. Have a great 4th of July!
