On Behalf of Bill Nobles:

Colorado State Fair

The Colorado State Fair is in full gear and I hope you had the opportunity to take part in some of the action. For 4-H agents this is time to reflect over the year as we get closer to achievement nights and reenrollment for next year. Finding some time for reenergizing is probably a very good idea, but I want you all to keep in mind you need to report what you have accomplished and some of you are falling behind. I would suggest as you report think about outputs, outcomes and stories of what you have accomplished. There has been some great Extension work this year and we need to reflect that in our reporting system. Enough said, I want to thank you all for the great work you have done.

2013 Ag Day

Ag Day on Saturday, September 28 is fast approaching if you interested in attending I have included the site where you can purchase tickets. The BBQ is from 11AM to 1PM and the game follows with us hosting UTEP at 1:30 PM. The site is http://agday.agsci.colostate.edu/. Since 1981 Ag Day, hosted by Colorado State University’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Department of Intercollegiate Athletics along with Colorado agricultural organizations and associations, is a nonprofit event with Ag Day proceeds furnishing scholarships to Colorado State University agricultural science students. Colorado agricultural growers and producers prepare Colorado’s premier outdoor barbecue from quality Colorado food products.

Colorado Ag Water Alliance

"Valuing Colorado’s Agriculture: A Workshop for Water Policy Makers" is to be held on October 7 in Colorado Springs and registration is open. Please visit the CAWA website at www.coagwater.org to register for the workshop, view the agenda and find further information. Please offer this opportunity to your County Commissioners to attend.

The Colorado Ag Water Alliance and Arkansas Basin Roundtable are hosting this event at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort. This workshop is aimed at decision-makers who participate in the development of water management policies throughout the state of Colorado. Conference organizers have invited prominent economists of national renown to share expertise on methods and approaches to the valuation of water as it is managed for agriculture. The 1-day workshop will examine both the direct and indirect benefits derived from the use of water to support an agricultural economy. The program will feature moderated in-depth interviews and afternoon breakout sessions to further expound on the morning's topics.

Room blocks are available at the Double Tree Hotel in Colorado Springs (1775 E Cheyenne Mountain Blvd, phone (719) 576-8900). For even more information contact Perry Cabot at the Peaks & Plains Regional office.

Pedal The Plains

The 2nd Annual Pedal The Plains Bicycle Tour features the wide-open spaces and star-filled nights of Southeastern Colorado; a region rich in history and full of hidden treasures. The Colorado 4-H Team made up of 19 individuals will take to the road on September 20-22 beginning in Eads, Colorado. As we roam the vast beautiful green grasslands and weeds; learn about the Sand Creek Massacre and Camp Amache; visit Bent’s Old Fort and the Santa Fe Trail; befriend local farmers and ranchers; and have a boot-stomp’n good old time Colorado State University Extension will be well represented. Thanks to Jeff Goodwin and all those Extension personnel making this celebration of cycling culture happen.

CSU Approved Vendor List – Joanne Littlefield

Many of you are interested in learning how you can find out if a vendor in your area is on the CSU approved vendor list. The first, and more direct way, is to ask them! They will know if they have completed the paperwork for this designation.

There is a ‘client list’ available for Colorado State University vendors here: http://www.clc.com/Licensing-Info/Client-License-List.aspx http://graphicstandards.colostate.edu/files/pdf/licensees-local.pdf

However, keep in mind that many of the vendors you would be using would come under the designation: ‘internal vendor’, that is vendors who are approved for internal (not-for-resale) work only. Two of the most commonly used, CSU approved vendors we use for specialty items are Crider and Company and 4Imprint.

More details about how to become licensed are available here: http://graphicstandards.colostate.edu/licensing.aspx#gl

The most important information about licensing, and our contact can be accessed from this site: http://graphicstandards.colostate.edu/licensing.aspx.
