Programs are open to all without discrimination. 4-H programing uses the experiential learning model. In 4-H youth learn by doing. In addition to it\u2019s teaching style, 4-H is best identified by its green four-leaf clover with an H on each leaf. The four H\u2019s on the emblem stand for Head, Heart, Hands, and Health. All 4-H programs focus on active involvement and quality experiences which stimulate lifelong learning of values and skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Youth who are 8-18 years old are welcome to join 4-H. You will need to choose one of the available <a href=\"https:\/\/extension.colostate.edu\/grand\/offering\/4-h\/4-h-clubs\/\" data-type=\"offering-cpt\" data-id=\"506\"><strong>Grand County 4-H clubs<\/strong><\/a>. Feel free to call any of the leaders on the list to discuss meeting times, locations, club requirements, etc. All projects are available in all&nbsp;clubs, so only select one club for your family.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What project(s) is your child interested in? Select from the <a href=\"https:\/\/extension.colostate.edu\/grand\/offering\/4-h\/4-h-projects-and-programs\/\" data-type=\"offering-cpt\" data-id=\"541\"><strong>4-H projects list<\/strong><\/a>. However, if your child has an interest in a topic not on the list, just ask us! 4-H members can take as many projects as they\u2019d like, but it\u2019s a good idea to ease into it the first year.&nbsp;<strong>We recommend new members select 1-2 projects their first year.<\/strong>&nbsp;If your child decides to add or drop a project the deadline to do so is<strong>&nbsp;April 1st<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are you able to commit to the completion requirements? Members must complete both county and club requirements. County requirements are as follows:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Attend six club meetings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Perform at least one demonstration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exhibit each project (usually at the county fair)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete a record book on time for each project<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete a community service project.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>A 4-H club may have additional requirements, such as a fundraiser or attendance at another event, so it\u2019s a good idea to ask the club leader what they require. Enrollment, registration, and participation requirements vary by program. 4-H clubs and groups are required to charter each 4-H year, which begins on October 1 and runs through September 30 of the following year. Members have multiple opportunities to grow as leaders, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>4-H Club Officers<\/strong> &#8211; Each club elects officers who help run meetings and guide club activities. Common officer roles include President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Historian, and Council Representatives.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>4-H Council Officers<\/strong> &#8211; These youth leaders represent all 4\u2011H clubs in Grand County as part of a unified council. They make decisions that shape the local 4\u2011H program and help plan events throughout the year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>4-H Committee Members<\/strong> &#8211; Youth representatives serve on the Horse Committee, Junior Livestock Committee, or General Projects Committee. They provide a youth perspective on these adult-led groups and help organize events such as horse clinics, awards nights, and livestock shows.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>4-H State Officer<\/strong> &#8211; Senior 4\u2011H members interested in travel, teamwork, and advanced leadership development can run for District or State officer positions. In Colorado, there are more than 8,000 volunteers who give their time, skills, and talents to help youth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These volunteers serve in a number of capacities. Some choose to help at summer camps, teach a workshop, or lead a club.
