MORGAN COUNTY 4-H FASHION REVUE: LA DOLCE VITA<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On Monday, July 20, the Morgan County Fair Fashion Revue celebrated this year’s theme, “La Dolce Vita”, as 4-H members showcased their creativity, sewing abilities, and artistic talents in the Clothing Construction and Artistic Clothing competitions. Participants in the Clothing Construction division included Kaitlyn Kral, Madison Kral, Evy Lozier, and Elizabeth Whitney. Elizabeth Whitney was named Grand Champion, while Madison Kral earned Reserve Grand Champion honors. The Artistic Clothing division featured Kaitlyn Kral, Madison Kral, Evy Lozier, and Kimber Heid. Evy Lozier was selected as Grand Champion, and Kimber Heid received Reserve Grand Champion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kaitlyn Kral opened the Clothing Construction competition by modeling a leopard-print skirt that showcased the sewing skills she developed throughout the project. While creating the skirt, she learned how to accurately measure fabric, sew hems, and insert elastic. Kaitlyn earned second place in the Junior Clothing Construction division. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Madison Kral was the second participant to model her project, a versatile blue plaid skirt suitable for many occasions. Throughout the project, Madison strengthened her skills in sewing straight seams and measuring fabric to create a clean hem. She earned first place in the Junior Clothing Construction division and was named Reserve Grand Champion in Clothing Construction. <\/p>\n<\/div>

The third Clothing Construction entry was created and modeled by Evy Lozier. Using a vintage 1970s pattern, Evy designed a two-piece outfit that gives the appearance of a dress. She discovered that rayon can be a challenging fabric to sew, but through patience and perseverance, she successfully completed her project. Evy placed third in the Junior Clothing Construction division.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Elizabeth Whitney concluded the Clothing Construction portion of the show with her stunning “Origami Jacket.” Her project began with raw sheep’s wool, which she spun into yarn, dyed, and then wove into a plaid fabric before constructing the finished jacket. Her remarkable craftsmanship earned her first place in the Senior Clothing Construction division and Grand Champion overall in Clothing Construction.<\/p>\n<\/div>

The Artistic Clothing competition began with Kaitlyn Kral’s personalized baseball jersey. She used a heat press to apply the word “Blessed” and her favorite number, 28, to the back of the jersey while learning how to create clean lines and properly use heat-transfer techniques. Kaitlyn received second place in the Junior Artistic Clothing division. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Madison Kral followed with her ocean-inspired T-shirt. She tie-dyed portions of the shirt blue and used stencils and sponge painting to add sailboats, a lighthouse, and an anchor. The project served as a tribute to her grandfather, who enjoys sailing and lighthouses. Madison earned third place in the Junior Artistic Clothing division.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Next, Evy Lozier showcased a unique jean jacket featuring hand-cut faux leather fringe woven into the back of the garment. After carefully weaving each strip into an intricate pattern, she stitched the fringe securely in place. Evy’s creativity and craftsmanship earned her first place in the Junior Artistic Clothing division and Grand Champion overall in Artistic Clothing. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Kimber Heid rounded out the competition with a cosplay cape inspired by the character Mestani Box. Kimber completed the project in time to wear it to Denver Fan Expo last May. She learned how to solder the edges of the cape to prevent the ragged hem from unraveling after cutting it. Kimber received first place in the Senior Artistic Clothing division and was named Reserve Grand Champion overall in Artistic Clothing. <\/p>\n<\/div>

The Fashion Revue also featured Morgan County 4-H Cloverbud members, who proudly modeled decorated T-shirts they created during a workshop earlier in July. Following the “La Dolce Vita” theme, the Cloverbuds used blue and yellow fabric paint with circular brushes to decorate the borders of their shirts before adding drawings that represented things meaningful to them. They also created decorative fans to carry as they modeled their projects. Cloverbud participants included Joe Lookingbill, Anthony Lookingbill, Reiko Keehner, and Thomas Carrington. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The evening’s emcee was Cora Loera. The Morgan County 4-H Fashion Revue was made possible through the efforts of superintendents Kathy Wood, Cora Loera, and Jennifer Rhode. Sheila Lynn also provided valuable assistance by coordinating the venue and managing the sound system throughout the event.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
