Title: Extension Agent – Natural Resources

Location: Jefferson County

Date of Hire: January 2019

Personal Information: I was born and raised in Belleville, Illinois but have since lived in Montana, Idaho, and now Colorado. I enjoy any time spent outdoors with my family especially activities that include my two mutts, Dixie and Boone. I also enjoy gardening, traveling, and cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals!

Job Experience: Prior to working at CSU Extension, I worked for Colorado Open Lands, and Teton Regional Land Trust in natural resource management, land stewardship, and conservation.

Christine Prins

Name: Christine Prins

Title: Area Extension Program Associate – Horticulture

Location: Tri River Area – Mesa County

Date of Hire: January 2019

Personal Information: I am an avid outdoors person, especially skiing and mountain biking. I enjoy hiking and looking at native plants. I also enjoys baking and working on house projects and in the garden.

Job Experience: Before Extension, I coordinated lab courses at CSU for five years, worked one season with the National Park Service, and two years in environmental consulting.

Melissa Tabke

Name: Melissa Tabke

Title: Area Extension Agent – 4-H Youth Development

Location: Tri River Area – Mesa County

Date of Hire: January 2019

Personal Information: Originally, I am from Marcus, Iowa. I enjoy traveling, being outdoors, and cooking.

Job Experience: For the last 4 years, I worked for AgriCorps in Ghana and Liberia, working with 4-H programs. I spent two years in Ghana, teaching agriculture sciences, serving as a 4-H leader, and working in the Northern Region 4-H Ghana office. Then I moved to Liberia as AgriCorps’ Country Director to re-open the AgriCorps Fellowship program and work with 4-H Liberia’s national staff. While there, I worked with many different 4-H clubs and led 4-H leader and agent trainings as well as advocating for 4-H to the Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Education. For fun, I taught at the University of Liberia and went to the beach. After 4 years in West Africa, it was time to move back to the US. Upon arrival back in the US, I spent a few months traveling around the US before landing in Mesa County.
