4-H Beef Project

The Colorado 4‑H Beef Project guides youth as they build their knowledge and abilities at each level of involvement.

Beginning members are introduced to the fundamentals—beef cattle breeds, proper feeding practices, daily care, and basic responsibilities. Intermediate participants take their learning further by studying nutrition, herd health, and effective management techniques, while also strengthening their communication skills and sportsmanship. Those at the advanced level dive into leadership roles, explore current trends and challenges in the beef industry, learn about technology used in beef production, and investigate potential career opportunities—all while showing their animals and forming meaningful connections with peers.

Youth involved in beef projects can also take part in livestock‑related contests such as Livestock Judging, Livestock Quiz Bowl, and Livestock Skill‑a‑Thon.
