4-H Clothing Construction Project

The Colorado 4‑H Clothing Construction Project helps youth learn sewing skills and how to create garments.

  • Units 1–2 teach beginning skills such as operating a sewing machine, using basic tools, reading simple patterns, and making an easy garment.
  • Unit 3 introduces more advanced methods, new fabrics, and experimenting with different textiles.
  • Advanced Clothing Construction (Unit 4) continues building higher‑level techniques.
  • Sewing for Others (Unit 5) focuses on creating clothing for someone else, taking measurements, and adjusting patterns to fit.

Qualified participants may enter Fashion Revue competitions at the county, state, or national level.
