4-H Dairy Cattle Project
The Colorado 4‑H Dairy Cattle Project gives youth practical experience in caring for and managing dairy animals.
Participants learn how to select quality cattle, understand nutrition and health needs, and explore reproduction, genetics, and accurate record keeping. They also study consumer expectations, practice proper grooming and showmanship, and gain insight into animal welfare and how the dairy industry contributes to the food supply. Youth additionally explore what it takes to run a successful dairy operation.
Members may also take part in livestock contests such as Livestock Judging, Livestock Quiz Bowl, and Livestock Skill‑a‑Thon.
