4-H Entomology Project
The Colorado 4‑H Entomology Project introduces youth to insect science through progressively challenging levels.
- Level 1 (Grades 3–5) covers basic insect anatomy, collecting and displaying specimens, building simple traps, observing behavior, and learning about helpful and harmful insects, biodiversity, and basic pest management.
- Level 2 (Grades 6–8) deepens these skills with advanced trapping techniques, identifying major insect orders, attracting butterflies, studying metamorphosis, and exploring topics like invasive species and forensic entomology.
- Level 3 (Grades 9–12) focuses on career pathways, scientific research, creating dichotomous keys, and conducting more specialized investigations within entomology.
