4-H Horseless Horse Project

The Colorado 4‑H Horseless Horse Project helps youth learn about horse care, behavior, and management even if they don’t own a horse.

Beginning units introduce coat colors, breeds, basic anatomy, grooming practices, and safety around horses. Intermediate units expand into conformation, health and wellness, tack and equipment, feeding, and foundational riding knowledge while building leadership and horsemanship skills. Advanced levels cover nutrition, reproduction, advanced maneuvers, showmanship, housing and pasture care, and ethical issues within the horse industry—giving members a comprehensive understanding of responsible horse care.

Youth may also compete in Horse Judging, Horse Bowl, Horse Demonstration/Public Speaking, and Hippology.
