4-H Photography Project
The Colorado 4‑H Photography Project helps youth build skills in taking, composing, and editing photographs while encouraging creativity and technical growth.
Beginners in Units 1 and 2 learn camera basics, lighting, composition, and essential photography techniques. Unit 3 adds more advanced skills for members with prior experience. Higher‑level units focus on specific areas: mastering advanced photography (Unit 4), capturing images in low‑light conditions (Unit 5), refining specialized techniques and exploring photography careers (Unit 6), and editing digital images, including using AI‑based tools (Unit 7).
Participants plan their projects, experiment with techniques, and create portfolios for exhibition.

SLV Area Clubs
The San Luis Valley Area has several 4-H clubs that coordinate events and help mentor youth members through a variety of 4-H projects. Most clubs meet once a month.
San Luis Valley Photography Project Details
This project educates on the basic knowledge of photography.
You will complete a display photo that’s 5×7 and matted according to Colorado State Fair requirements and record book along with photos completed in manual activities. Need to be
displayed on cardstock and labeled.
Requirements:
- Attend 2 projects meetings.
- Record book in a 3-ring folder will need to accompany your project.
