4-H Shooting Sports Project
The Colorado 4‑H Shooting Sports Project teaches youth to safely and responsibly participate in a variety of shooting disciplines, including archery, air rifle, air pistol, .22 rifle, .22 pistol, shotgun, and muzzleloading.
Members learn correct equipment handling, maintenance, and safety procedures for each discipline. They demonstrate their growing skills through practices, presentations, exhibits, and competitions at the local, district, state, or national level if they qualify.
The project also encourages youth to explore related fields while building discipline, focus, confidence, and sportsmanship. Advanced participants may develop higher‑level skills and consider future opportunities in shooting sports, law enforcement, or wildlife management.

SLV Area Clubs
The San Luis Valley Area has several 4-H clubs that coordinate events and help mentor youth members through a variety of 4-H projects. Most clubs meet once a month.
San Luis Valley Shooting Sports Project Details
This project educates on the basic knowledge of shooting sports.
You must complete a shooting sports display board, decor or stand-alone according to state fair
requirements along with a completed record book.
Requirements:
- Attend 2 projects meetings. Sand Dunes Drifter provides the project meetings and equipment that is used during those meetings.
- Record book in a 3-ring folder will need to accompany your project.

- Materials can cost $10-$200
