4-H Model Rocketry Project
The Colorado 4‑H Model Rocketry Project encourages youth to dive into the STEM concepts behind rocketry through hands‑on experimentation.
Members learn to safely design, build, and launch rockets while studying flight principles such as aerodynamics, propulsion, and stability. Early units teach basic construction, launch steps, and essential safety rules. Higher‑level units introduce more advanced topics, including multi‑stage rockets, payloads, recovery systems, and altitude measurement. Throughout the project, youth practice record‑keeping, planning, and problem‑solving as they apply STEM skills to real experiments.
The program fosters creativity, teamwork, and critical thinking, helping prepare youth for future opportunities in engineering, aerospace, and related fields.
