4-H Rabbit Project

The Colorado 4‑H Rabbits Project teaches youth how to properly care for, feed, and evaluate rabbits while building responsibility, setting goals, and keeping accurate records.

Beginners are introduced to rabbit breeds, basic anatomy, daily care, and how to give demonstrations. Intermediate members learn more about nutrition, disease prevention, breed selection, and how to exhibit rabbits, while also improving sportsmanship and public speaking. Advanced participants explore current issues in rabbit production, take on leadership roles, look into rabbit‑related careers, and develop meaningful friendships through their project work.

Preparing for and showing livestock can be an extremely rewarding and educational experience for youth.

The lessons learned in showing and raising livestock are invaluable. However, it can feel very intimidating to begin. This guide is a broad overview at how to prepare for showing market, breeding and companion rabbits.

All exhibitors are encouraged to ask questions as they
grow through the program.
