4-H Wildlife Project

The Colorado 4‑H Wildlife Project encourages youth to explore wildlife history, conservation values, and how animals are managed in today’s world.

  • In Unit 1 – The Worth of Wild Roots, members learn about the historical development of wildlife conservation and the many benefits wildlife provides to people.
  • Unit 2 – Living Wild in an Ecosystem teaches youth about habitats, how habitat size and structure influence species, and what factors impact wildlife populations.
  • Unit 3 – Managing in a World with You and Me focuses on wildlife management agencies, threatened and endangered species, hunting, invasive species, and addressing wildlife damage.

Hands‑on activities throughout the project help youth connect with nature and understand their role in responsible wildlife stewardship.
