MAY ALREADY? Seemed like yesterday you were all just signing
up for the new 4-H Year! I warned you all it would go fast!
Right now you should be thinking about what your final project
is going to be and what requirements do you still need to work
on. Summer is literally around the corner!

Beef, Dog & Horse ID Due

All Animals in these projects need to be uploaded into 4HOnline by May 1st. Instructions were emailed, please don’t delay! YOU MUST EMAIL BECKY WHEN COMPLETE!

Colorado 4-H State Conference

Registration for State Conference is open to youth 14-18. Please see flyer on page for details or email for instructions.

Demonstrations

Demonstrations need to be completed at either club meeting, project meeting or with a school group. Score sheets are located by the 4-H office and need to be completed by an adult not related to you. See page 8 for details.

All Current Club Presidents, Vice presidents and Council Reps are required to attend Council meetings.

Archuleta County 4-H Council meeting is May 20 at 6:30pm

Council Officer Elections for 2026-2027

Elections for new Council officers will take place at the July 2026 meeting. If you are interested in running, please ask for a copy of the officer duties. Council Officers must be at least 14 years old.

Council Report from March

Our March Council Meeting was held on March 18th. The meeting was called to order at 6:51. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Abbie, and the 4-H Pledge was led by Clair. Next, we heard our Secretary’s report. We then moved on to the Treasurer’s report and New Business. We handed out soup awards to all members present who sold $200+ in soup. We also had a name drawing for who would win the bonus $100. We then went over the district 5 leadership camp coming up in April and discussed a date to go over the workshop our county is leading. Next, we held our preliminary elections for district 5 President. Maximus Ibram was pre-elected for president and Tucker Ford was pre-elected for vice president. The official district 5 President/Vice President will be voted on at the district camp in April. The meeting was adjourned at 7:21 pm.

Lucky Duck Contest winners!

Even though some of the ducks were stolen, we had two members attempt to find all 23!

Wyatt Osborn – 13 Ducks, including 2 bonus ducks for a total of 210 club points!
Bristol Jacobson – 5 ducks, including 2 bonus ducks for a total of 160 club points! (No she did not duck hunt with me!)

Although no one found all of them to earn a $50 gift card, the prize goes to Wyatt for finding the most! Trophies will be at the next club meeting!

Colorado Kids

Meets 1st Tuesday of the Month at 6:30pm

Colorado Kids met on April 7th at 6:34pm. Ransom led the
American Pledge and Aubrey led the 4H Pledge, There were 16
members present. Old business: Meet Archuleta County
Officers, Demonstrations due June 26th at 4:00 pm; Youth Fest
11-13 year old, $115 per person, March 27-29th at the Colorado
State Fair Grounds; Woman in Ag State conference March 5-6th.
New Business: 4H youth counselors 14-18 year old, Clover Buds
day camp, June 9-11th, 5-7 year old $30 fee; Rocky mountain
riders day Gymkhana, May 10th at 10am; junior day camp May
1st and June 1st; district 5 neon 4H dance, demonstrations due
June 26th; trash pick up May 8th, demonstrations meeting May
8th. There was 1 birthday in April which was Cora. The meeting
adjourned at 6:45pm.

Hot Shots

Meets 1st Monday of Month at 6:30pm

The Hot Shots meeting occurred on Monday April 6th at 6:35
PM and was adjourned at 6:57.
The question for our April meeting was what is your favorite
musical.
We did the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H Pledge.
The secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were approved.
The council’s report was given by Gage Bobbit.
The meeting was finished up with announcements since there
were no April birthdays.

Rocky Mountain Riders

Meets 2nd Tuesday of the Month at 6pm

Meeting called to order at 6:09. The Pledge was said by Jemma
Flaugh. The 4-H pledge was said by Kennedy Miller. Meadow
discussed the Pueblo statewide horse council this coming
weekend, La Plata gymkhana and Obstapalooza the weekend of
the 25th. Make up lessons/meetings will be announced.
Discussed fundraiser ideas, riding lesson for tomorrow will be
gymkhana events. Aspen gave her presentation on horse colors
and markings. Averee gave her presentation on rodeo events.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:18.

Shady Pine

Meets 1st Thursday of the Month at 6:30pm

This meeting was called to order on April 2, 2026 at 6:31 p.m. by
President Madi Stretton. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by
Ridge Adkisson and the 4 H Pledge was led by Maheyla Witting.
Roll call was done by Secretary Hannah Stretton. There were 30
present and 14 non-present members. The minutes were read
by secretary Hannah Stretton, there were no additions or
corrections. Alivia Stretton approved and Avery Adkisson
seconded them. The treasurer’s report was given by Addie Hittle
the balance was $451.73. There was no council report.
Old business: Club of the year party ideas, Match community
service ideas, Mays community service. New Business: CWF and
District Camp. April Community service- Cleaning Mil creek road
Mays community service- walking dogs Flash report.
Happy April birthdays to Ben Stretton and Aleyia Diez.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:59 p.m. by Secretary Hannah
Stretton.

Requirements for Fair

All Projects must complete:

  • Demonstration sheet (1 per project) Due by June 26th
  • 4 photos of project progress
  • 4-H story
  • Completed record book with above items
  • Attended at least 6 Club meetings (2 make-ups are allowed)
  • Completed 3 hours of Community Service with Club or Council
  • Have attended minimum number of meetings as required by your project leader

Inside Project State Fair requirements:

  • Make sure that you are completing a project that meets the Colorado
  • State Fair standards. These can be found at https://co4h.colostate.edu/colorado-4-h-state-fair/
  • Check with your project leader to make sure you are on target
  • You will be scheduled for an interview with the judge, where you will present your completed project and record boo. Depending on the project, those dates are July 27 & July 29.

Livestock/Dog/Horse Project requirements:

  • You will be scheduled for an interview in July
  • Dog project members will have a dog show – TBD
  • Horse Show will be July 25 & 26
  • Livestock set-up is July 27 and is MANDATORY for Livestock members
  • Livestock animals will arrive on July 29 to be placed in pens.
  • Completed Livestock/Horse/Dog Record books are due August 24 by 4:00pm
