Club news & Project meetings
Buckles and Bows
As a newer 4-H club, we are continuing to establish our rhythm and traditions. This year, our leadership team, goals, and club calendar were organized quickly, allowing us to get off to a strong and successful start.
In April, our club focused on community service, learning new skills and spring cleaning. Club members collected food donations for Loaves and Fishes to help support local families in need. We worked together to clean the 4-H building and prepare it for upcoming activities and events. We also enjoyed a demonstration on cake decorating, where members learned creative decorating techniques and tips.

Important reminders
- Drop date is June 1
- If you are not able to complete the project this year but want to try again next year you have to drop by June 1st! If you do not drop and do not complete the project you cannot do it again!
- Fair entry will open June 1
- Fair entry is paper only! There is no online fair entry! Forms can be found in the fair book!
- All fair entries are due June 30 to the office by 5 p.m.
- Late entry deadline is July 1 by 5 p.m.
- $25 late fee for each project
- 4-h’ers are required to sign up for a fair set up/clean up shift when you enter fair! No exceptions! Many hands make light work! This is different than your club concessions.
Project meetings
- Leather Craft
- 1st and 3rd Wednesdays 6:00-7:00 @ the 4-H Building starting January 21. If you are new to leathercraft, and haven’t purchased a Tandy’s kit from the Extension office ($50) you can do so. They are much cheaper through us.
- Cake Decorating
- 1st and 3rd Monday starting in March. 5pm- 8pm at the 4-H Building. Contact Val for more information.

Livestock updates
Market animal/horse written tests are in person! You must pass the written test in order to show at county fair. No exceptions! There are two date opportunities to take the test June 3 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. or June 4 8 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Study guides were emailed to all livestock families. If you didn’t receive one call the Extension Office!
Horse shows
- June 21: Horse Show 8 a.m.
- July 26: County Fair Horse Show
Animal record books due August 20. All livestock, dog and horse record books by no later than 5:00 p.m. to the Extension Office for judging.
Buyer letters
Each year the community comes out to attend the 4-H auction and spends thousands of dollars supporting 4-H kids in their projects. Without the support of local businesses there would be no stock sale for your kids to sell their animals at. Getting out and delivering market letters to these local businesses is a great way to keep your auction going and to get new buyers to the fair!
- Any local business your family patronizes
- Your families Doctor, Dentist, Eye Doctor, Orthodontist or any other specialist you see
- Previous Buyers of your 4-H animal
- Relatives, Family Friends, Neighbors
- An introduction:
- Your name, age, Club, and project
- Something you learned raising this animal
- An invitation to the auction including:
- Fair information
- Sales Dates, Time and Location
- Extension Office phone number for more information
- Thanks for their support in the past if they’ve previously bought an animal
- Picture of you with your project animal
- Any hardships your family is going through.
- Having an asking price for your animal.
- Asking for a direct donation.
- Any threats to not do business with them anymore if they don’t buy your animal

Interested in Camping at Pathfinder during County Fair?
Campers may come in on Sunday July 26 after 6:00 p.m.
Anyone that brings their camper in prior will be asked to leave for the remainder of the fair and forfeit your camping fee for this year!

Fair board members and superintendents will be there 4-8 p.m. for pen setups of personal items, fans, chutes, etc.
Dates: Monday, July 27th through Saturday, August 1st
Cost: 4-H/FFA families and fair board members- $10 per night per camper
Vendors are $20 per night per camper
No refunds will be given!
Registration forms can be picked up and filled out at the Extension Office. Camping spots are limited and are first come first serve.
