Join Gilpin County CSU Extension and Gilpin County Parks & Recreation for a FREE Guided Hike Summer Series that explores three areas in the county: Axton Ranch (June 25), Golden Gate Canyon State Park (July 31), and Maryland Mountain (August 27). Hikers will learn about local flowers, trees, and other natural features, log steps, enjoy fresh mountain air, and socialize with neighbors.
Advanced registration is required – please use the REGISTER button above. Specific details about each hike are included below. Attendees are encouraged to plan for the weather, bring water, snacks, and sun protection, and wear comfortable hiking shoes. Dogs are not permitted.
Maryland Mountain – Hidden Treasure
Thursday, August 27 – 10:30 am – 2:00 pm
The hiker-only Summit trail is a 3-mile intermediate trail that climbs 900 feet in elevation to the panoramic summit of Maryland Mountain. This out and back hike will take approximately 3 hours to complete. Attendees will meet at the trailhead; restrooms are available at the parking area.
