Garfield and Pitkin County Extension 

CSU Extension helps local residents improve their quality of life by offering educational opportunities and programs that provide unbiased, research-based information on forestry, wildfire, gardening, and more. Through our 4-H programs, we help youth develop valuable life skills.

Our mission

Community needs drive our work. Our mission is to provide information and education, and encourage the application of research-based knowledge in response to local issues affecting individuals, youth, families, and communities. 

We are part of the land-grant university system nationwide. We draw from the University’s research-based resources to strengthen community partnerships, boost the economy, engage families and youth, and enhance quality of life.

Our locations

Note: Pitkin County Open Space and Trails is the home for the Pitkin County CSU Extension Agriculture Specialist. Pitkin County Open Space and Trails partners with Colorado State University (CSU) Extension to extend agricultural support beyond county properties and into the broader community.
