Garfield County 4-H
4-H is America’s largest youth development organization—empowering nearly six million young people across the U.S. with the skills to lead for a lifetime. We believe that every child has valuable strengths and real influence to improve the world around us. 4-H programs empower young people to be well-informed citizens, actively engaged in their communities and the world.

We can work to answer any question and connect with a variety of resources to assist with livestock production, pasture and rangeland management, vegetable crop production, agriculture business management, and more.


Colorado Master Gardener Program
The Colorado Master Gardener program helps Coloradans grow thriving landscapes while strengthening local communities. Through CSU Extension, volunteers and experts provide education, resources, and hands-on support to gardeners of all skill levels. Explore how this statewide network cultivates sustainable practices, fosters lifelong learning, and brings horticultural science to life in every county.
Garfield County Education Center & Outdoor Classroom
This new facility will provide dedicated, inspiring, and community-focused space to serve youth and adults through science-based 4-H youth development educational programs including: STEM-based robotics, gardening, wood working, welding, sewing, and archery, in addition to community-based adult educational programming.


Pesticide Applicator Exam Center
Our office is a proctor location for Colorado Pesticide Applicator examinations. Tests are required for Qualified Supervisor, Certified Operator and Private Pesticide Applicator licensure. Visit the Colorado Environmental Pesticide Education Program for more information and study resources. We have hard copies of the Colorado Private Pesticide Applicator study manual available at our office.
Complete an exam application and schedule exam(s) through Metro Institute. During registration you will be able to pick the time and location for your exam. There is an examination fee of $41.50 per test. After passing your exam(s), there is a $75 license fee due to the CDA.
Food Safety & Food Preservation Training
Learning opportunities from Garfield County Extension include Food Safety Works, ServSafe Food Protection Manager Training & Testing, Basic Food Preservation, and Master Food Safety Advisor Training.


Grow & Give Program
Grow & Give was created by CSU Extension in 2020 to help educate home gardeners on how to grow in Colorado while connecting their backyard produce with Coloradans in need. The program helps gardeners learn how to grow fruits and vegetables at home or in their community, with an emphasis on growing extra to give locally.
STEAM and School Enrichment Program
Garfield County CSU Extension provides resources and programming opportunities for families, youth and our community using science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics. These opportunities include but are not limited to 52 Weeks of STEAM one page lessons, life cycle lessons and activities for elementary age school students, archery for middle schools. The office also partners with Colorado Mountain College to teach STEAM programming at Family Fun Fridays.
