| Colorado Energy Overview | Cary Weiner | Cary Weiner is Energy Specialist for Colorado State University Extension where he oversees statewide energy programming efforts including the development of the Colorado Energy Master program, an agricultural energy outreach program, a clean energy curriculum for Colorado middle and high schools, and outreach to the general public on energy efficiency and renewable energy. |
| Fossil Energy | Thomas Foulke | Thomas Foulke is a Senior Research Scientist in the University of Wyoming Department of Agricultural & Applied Economics. His recent work has focused on energy feasibility studies, especially with respect to those impacting Wyoming’s economy. These include the feasibility of building advanced coal gasification plants in Wyoming, the feasibility of an advanced flue-gas mineralization process and the economic impact of uranium production. He has also worked on the economics of on-farm bio-diesel production from the oil seed, camelina. In addition to energy studies, his work includes modeling the ranch-level effects of predation on profitability and several forest planning economic impact projects. He teaches Introduction to Equity Investing spring semesters. |
| Energy and Climate Change | Scott Denning | Scott Denning is a renowned climate scientist with over 85 published papers in peer-reviewed scientific literature. He’s been on the faculty of CSU since 1998, where he leads a large research group studying sources and sinks of atmospheric CO2. He is known for lively lectures and is very entertaining! |

| Clean and Renewable Electricity | Paul Davis | Paul Davis is customer services department manager at Platte River Power Authority, a wholesale generation and transmission electric utility that serves Estes Park, Fort Collins, Longmont, and Loveland. Paul coordinates the work of the customer services department, a department consisting of five people, who provide customer services to Platte River’s four member utilities and to their customers. Customer services are provided in the areas of energy efficiency assessments, efficiency rebate programs, and renewable energy programs. Paul has been with Platte River nearly 14 years. During this time he has strengthened his experience in energy efficiency and customer services and has gained experience in planning and acquiring renewable energy including financial analysis, purchasing, contracting, and operations. Prior to working at Platte River, Paul had five years of experience performing commercial and industrial energy audits and building energy simulations at Colorado State University, Steven Winter Associates in Norwalk, Connecticut, and Cogenex, in Lowell, Massachusetts. Paul has a Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a Masters in mechanical engineering from Colorado State University. |
| Transportation Alternatives | Tyler Svitak | Tyler Svitak came to Colorado on a full-ride academic scholarship to the University of Colorado Denver, where he earned CU Denver’s Student Leader of the Year Award and the University Leadership Program’s Outstanding Graduate award before graduating with a BA in Geography and minors in political science and leadership studies in 2012. Tyler first started with Denver Metro Clean Cities Coalition as paid intern in 2011 while finishing school, and during that time he was responsible for a variety of projects including research for Colorado’s EV Readiness Plan, social media, marketing, report writing, and program support. Following the internship, Tyler was hired on full time as the Clean Cities Energy Coordinator to manage DMCCC’s role in Refuel Colorado. In this role he worked directly with fleet managers and local leadership to deploy alternative fueled vehicles and infrastructure through a comprehensive fleet auditing and consultation process, and he also authored the content for the Refuel Colorado website. In November of 2013, Tyler was promoted to Clean Cities Manager where he serves as the official DMCCC Coordinator and continues his work with Refuel Colorado. Outside of the office Tyler is an avid skier and outdoor enthusiast who grew up whitewater rafting, ski racing, and playing soccer in Medford, Oregon. Tyler now lives in Denver with his wife, Sarah, and dog, Konah. |
| Energy Policy | Jeff Lyng | Jeff Lyng is Senior Policy Advisor for the CSU Center for the New Energy Economy. He joined the Center from Opower, where he directed the company’s market development and regulatory affairs in the Western states. Prior to joining Opower, he served as renewable energy policy manager in the Colorado Governor’s Energy Office in the Ritter administration, advising on energy policy and managing several state energy programs. Before that, he was an engineer for Xcel Energy, consulting on demand-side management and solar programs. Lyng earned his master’s degree in building systems engineering from the University of Colorado, where his thesis focused on implementing solar energy in the production home market. He managed the winning 2005 University of Colorado Solar Decathlon Team. Lyng has served on the boards of Xcel Energy’s Innovative Clean Technologies Program, the Colorado Energy Services Coalition, the Colorado Renewable Energy Society, and is a past board chair of the American Solar Energy Society. |

| Home Renewable Energy | Kurt Jones | Kurt Jones has worked for Colorado State University Extension for over 15 years, teaching classes in the general program areas of 4-H youth development, natural resources, home horticulture, clean energy and agriculture. He has completed 120 hours of NABCEP-approved solar photovoltaics training, and has authored a grid-tied solar photovoltaics financial feasibility calculator and a fact sheet describing solar photovoltaic systems. He serves as the leader for the CSU Extension solar energy team, as project director for the CSU Extension Community Energy Coordinator project, and has received more than $665K in research and grant funding. He has been honored by the National Association of County Agriculture Agents with the Achievement Award and two national communications awards. |

| Home Energy Assessments | John Fassler | John Fassler is a BPI certified Building Analyst and RESNET Rater. He has completed more than 1,600 home energy audits in Northern Colorado and Cheyenne, Wyoming over the past 3 years. John worked in residential and light commercial construction from 1984-2009 when he started working for EnergyLogic in Berthoud, CO. He uses his extensive construction experience and passion for Home Energy Efficiency to provide helpful advice to homeowners on saving energy and improving comfort in their homes. John is now a home energy auditor for CLEAResult. |
