Sympathy to . . .

Autumn Conde, Golden Plains Area – Yuma County. Autumn’s brother, JD Steckman, passed away on March 14. He was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at a very young age and died of complications from this disease. Condolences can be sent to Autumn at 29640 County Road 38, Wray, CO 80758.

The family of Albert “Al” and Sandi Meier. Sandi died on March 28 from a brain tumor at Pathways Hospice Care Center in Loveland. Al died on March 30 from intestinal complications at Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland. Sandi worked for CSU Cooperative Extension and Weld County Extension. Al had a 30 year career working for 4-H. He worked for Extension in Orange County, New York, the State 4-H Office in Arizona, and finished the last 14 years of his career in Colorado as a State 4-H specialist. A celebration of Al and Sandi’s lives was held on April 4 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Windsor. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions for Sandi may be made to the United Way of Weld County in care of Marks Funeral and Cremation Service. Also, In lieu of flowers memorial contributions for Al may be made to the Eric O. Meier scholarship fund in care of Marks Funeral and Cremation Service. Congratulations to . . .

Chris Shelley, Golden Plains Area – Yuma County. Chris and wife Brooklin welcomed a new baby girl, Leila Marie, into their family at 2:44 am on March 22. Leila was in a bit of a hurry to get here at 36 weeks but was a healthy 5 lbs. 15 oz. and 19 inches long and experienced her very first severe snow storm the day she and mom were released from the hospital. Leila’s siblings are brother William and sister Madeline.

I also curated the Dorkbot303 group from 2006-2012 for Denver and Boulder.

Personal Information: I was born and raised in New Hampshire, spent my high school years in Georgia where I enjoyed our afterschool 4-H Program, especially dogs, and I also showed quarter horses. I moved west to Wyoming to train horses professionally and was a horse leader and showmanship judge. When I moved south to Colorado, I continued as an FFA Horse Judging judge and 4-H horse leader. I also participated in many outdoor recreational pursuits and became interested in environmental education. I enjoy my time at Eldora Ski Area working at the Nordic Center, leading snowshoe adventures and just being outdoors, especially with my life partner and our Australian Shepherd. I also enjoy spending time with my Egyptian Arabian, Elan Sharif.

Job Experience: I have spent many years teaching workshops for teachers and other resource professionals in environmental education curricula. I developed and led environmental education programs for Pre-K-HS including special needs applications and various nature camps. I worked as the Director of Beaver Ponds Environmental Education Center. In the summer I worked with a tree company as their perennial planting foreman.
