McKensie Harris

Name: McKensie Harris

Title: Area Extension Agent, Livestock

Location: Golden Plains Area, Yuma

Date of Hire: April 2018

Personal Information: I was born and raised in Laramie, Wyoming. I spent a lot of time cultivating my understanding of horses and livestock through programs such as 4-H and FFA. In 2011, I began my undergraduate career at the University of Wyoming studying animal science. I have spent the last two years at Texas A&M University completing my graduate program, which focused on research, teaching, and extension service in the field of meat science. While at Texas A&M, I coached the meat judging team. This activity only further solidified my excitement and passion for educating people, especially those eager to learn. When I need to unwind, you will find me on the back of my horse.

Job Experience: I have been an intern for Western Sire Services, UW Extension, and the San Antonio Livestock Exposition. I have also been employed with the Laramie Research and Extension Center and the UW animal and veterinary science departments. I look forward to starting a career with CSU Extension.

Location: State 4-H Office

Date of Hire: April 2018

Personal Information: I am a native of Fort Collins, as both my parents are CSU alums and my father served on the faculty at the College of Veterinary Medicine. My husband and I lived in Oklahoma, Texas, and Minnesota prior to moving to Fort Collins in July 2017. We have six children, the oldest joining the CSU faculty at the College of Liberal Arts two years ago. Our youngest is a junior in high school and our furry friend is Bayley, a 9-year-old Shih Tzu.

Job Experience: My career begin in corporate banking in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where I managed a portfolio of commercial investment accounts for several years. While in Minnesota, I worked in public relations, communications, and development for two schools.
