Sympathy to . . .

Cindy Nosko (Weld County). Cindy’s father passed away on September 28. Cards and condolences may be sent to Cindy and her family at 708 44th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634.

Ruth Willson (State Extension Office). Ruth’s father, John Lee, passed away on August 29. Cards and condolences may be sent to Ruth at the State Extension Office.

The family of Donna Newton. Donna died suddenly at her home in Greeley on September 3. Donna worked in the State Extension Administration office for approximately 10 years. A celebration of Donna’s life was held on September 25 at the Island Grove Bunkhouse in Greeley.

The family of Bill Jackson. Bill Jackson, former Ag editor for the Greeley Tribune, and lifelong friend of Extension and 4-H, passed away on September 27. We will send funeral service information when it becomes available.

Congratulations to . . .

Anthony and Angie Asmus on the birth of their daughter, Rowan Jane, born on September 16. Rowan weighed 6.11 lbs. Angie is working in Academic Computing and Networking Services on campus.

Jan has worked previously for CSU as a departmental IT professional. Jan earned a B.S. in meteorology at Pennsylvania State University and his M.S. in atmospheric science at Colorado State University.

Director Budgets and Finance, #TBD
Director Jessica Fuentes has accepted the position of Executive Director of Budgets and Finance with the College of Agricultural Sciences effective October 12. This position is under review.

Brittany Bowman

Personal Information: I was born and raised in San Antonio, TX. I decided it was time for a new adventure and landed in Colorado! I grew up around livestock and was an active member of the FFA where I showed swine and cattle. I was also a 4-H volunteer, and loved every second of it. I love animals, traveling, crafting, and anything outdoors!

Job Experience: Prior to working for Colorado Extension, I was involved in the veterinary medical field for over seven years, working on large and small animals. Most recently I worked as a veterinary technician in an animal hospital.

Melinda Macpherson

Name: Melinda Macpherson
Title: Program Manager of CSU Extension 4-H STEM AmeriCorps Program

Personal Information: I’ve lived most of my life in Colorado and have been in Fort Collins for about 13 years. I love being outside – watching wildlife and birds, camping, fly fishing, and growing vegetables. I’m a dyed in the wool knitter. I’m always excited about new adventures with my Australian Shepard Bliss and I’m a huge ice hockey fan.

Job Experience: Prior to joining CSU Extension, I was the AmeriCorps Program Manager at the United Way of Larimer County. I have a background working in the hospitality industry, including a stint working at the hotels in Yellowstone National Park, and the human services field.

Personal Information: I grew up in Tucson, Arizona and moved to Colorado in 1994. I enjoy gardening, biking/hiking, knitting, music and spending time with my husband, two daughters and black lab.

Job Experience: Prior to working in Colorado Extension, I volunteered as a Master Gardener and Plant Diagnostician following employment as a Systems Engineer for AT&T/Lucent and early work as a medical technologist.

Travis Taylor

Personal Information: I was raised on a family ranch in Karval, Colorado on the southern end of Lincoln County. My wife, daughter, and I raise cattle and Boer goats near Limon. I enjoy livestock evaluation, dancing, and coaching basketball.

Job Experience: Prior to Working for Colorado Extension I was an Ag Education/FFA Instructor at Karval Schools. Previously I worked for Wyoming Extension and the UW Animal Science Department as an Extension 4-H Youth Livestock Specialist and Collegiate Judging Coach.

Holley Petrick

Name: Holley Petrick
Title: Extension Program Coordinator

Personal Information: Originally from South Bend, Indiana, I moved to Colorado 10 years ago and absolutely love it. I am passionate about climbing the 14-ers and enjoy hiking, biking, running and my husband and I enjoy traveling. I enjoy gardening, canning, cooking, reading and being outdoors. I also volunteer as the Editor of the Jefferson Park United Neighbors Newsletter.

Job Experience: I have worked as a journalist at Channel 9 in Cincinnati, did fund raising for United Way, held a position at Xavier University raising money for scholarships, I held a teaching position at Regis Jesuit High School in Aurora, CO, and most recently I worked at Colfax Elementary with Denver Public Schools on a grant for underprivileged elementary children.

Personal Information: I was raised in Montrose, Colorado on a cattle ranch and sod farm. My upbringing helped me to be part of the 4-H community, as well as having an interest in agriculture. After high school I had the opportunity to attend Colorado State University and study Environmental Horticulture. I graduated in 2011 with my degree and decided to move back to the western slope and take a position in the Montrose County Extension office where I now am a 4-H Program Associate!

Job Experience: Prior to working as a 4-H Program Associate in the Tri-River Area I worked for Montrose County as the Administrative Assistant for the 4-H Program.

Blake Osborn

Name: Blake Osborn
Title: Extension Regional Water Specialist
Location: Arkansas and Rio Grande River Basins

Personal Information: As a native of Fremont County, you won’t find me too far from the mountains or a fishing stream. Over the years I have worked for non-profit, government, and academic programs addressing water issues throughout the country. I enjoy packing through the backcountry with my wife and two dogs and exploring the many creeks and rivers of Colorado.

Job Experience: Before joining CSU Extension/Colorado Water Institute I worked as a researcher for the Wyoming Center for Environmental Hydrology and Geophysics.

Education:
2009 B.S. Natural Resource Management at Colorado State University Fort Collins.
2015 M.Sc. Watershed Management/ Water Resources at University of Wyoming.
