The sister, Gisele Jefferson and the family of Mary Jane Ward, former Extension Agent, FCS, in Las Animas County, passed away on Friday August 31, 2018. After a long battle with M.S. Services will be held Saturday 10:00 am in the Branson School Gym, in Branson, CO. Jessica Counts

Name: Jessica Counts

Title: Extension Director & Agent – Agriculture, Horticulture, and 4-H Youth Development

Location: Moffat County

Date of Hire: June 2018

Personal Information: I was born and raised in Siskiyou County, California, and I have lived in Moffat County for 12 years. I am a jack of all trades! I enjoy my horses, sheep, gardening, cooking, camping, fishing, and various art mediums. Most of all, I love living and laughing with my favorite people: my husband, Frank, our son, Cashton, and our daughter, Francesca.

Job Experience: Prior to working for CSU, I have spent the majority of my career in the oil and gas industry, working in environmental compliance. I also have experience working for local and federal government agencies, specializing in rangeland management and invasive species management.

Kim Peters

Name: Kim Peters

Title: Extension Agent – Agriculture and 4-H Youth Development

Location: Las Animas County

Date of Hire: July 2018

Personal Information: I was raised on a commercial cow/calf ranching operation in west Texas. I lived in the Texas panhandle most of my life, and have recently relocated to Trinidad. I enjoy being in the mountains, live music, yoga, photography, graphic design, and learning all I can about rangeland ecology.

Job Experience: During my undergraduate degree, I worked for the Texas A&M AgriLife Research Station as a student worker, as well as at the Texas 4-H Center working camps during the summer. During my master’s degree, I worked in the dean’s office of the College of Agricultural Science and Natural Resources as a college recruiter. After graduating with my master’s degree, I was hired as the Extension Agent for 4-H & Youth Development in Randall County, in the Texas panhandle. After three years in this position, I went back to school and took a position as an Extension Assistant in the Department of Ecosystems Science and Management at Texas A&M.

Erin Durant

Name: Erin Durant

Title: Extension Agent – 4-H Youth Development and Family & Consumer Sciences

Location: Gunnison County

Date of Hire: August 2018

Personal Information: Though I’ve lived in the Gunnison Valley for the past couple of years, I’m originally from South Carolina and moved to Colorado from Chattanooga, Tennessee. I enjoy exploring the many wonders that the Gunnison Country has to offer and getting to know the people of this valley.

Job Experience: Before working with CSU Extension, I held a wide range of positions. I spent five seasons working for the National Park Service. I also worked in private land conservation, taught environmental education, guided adventure trips, and managed a small family farm.

John Stolzle

Name: John Stolzle

Title: Extension Agent – Horticulture

Location: Jefferson County

Date of Hire: August 2018

Personal Information: I am looking forward to working with the enthusiastic CSU extension and Jeffco team! I grew up in Kansas, worked as on-air radio personality while studying for my undergraduate degree and, upon graduation from KU, lived abroad in Southern Brazil for a little over two years. On warm weekends, I am likely to be outside exploring the mountain wilderness. I am also currently in search of the ‘ideal’ sourdough bread starter.

Job Experience: Prior to working at the CSU extension, I managed an arthropod research lab in Brazil where my team and I conducted botanical studies and bioassays. I also worked with sustainable land use and development.
