On Behalf of CJ Mucklow:

New Travel Reimbursement Methods for CSU Travel

CSU is implementing a new travel system effective today in the Kuali software system. It should reduce the time for reimbursements. It uses electronic signatures. If you have questions as we learn the new system contact your RD or their Program Assistant for answers.

Western Region Openings

Please welcome Ann Duncan as the new Tri River Area Family and Consumer Science Agent. She will start August 1st and be housed in the Montrose office. Ann was a long time 4H member in Montrose County and has an educational background in nutrition.

New Family Member

Congratulations to Nina and Jesse Russell on the birth of their baby girl. Welcome to the world Evelyn!

Western Region Retirement

Pat McCarty has announced his retirement effective July 6th. A new position announcement will be coming soon, after I receive direction from the Garfield County Commissioners on July 20th.

Cannabis

Extension in the Tri River Area was recently asked to provide some information about the potential off site impacts of outdoor grown cannabis. As you know, we cannot supply information on growing Cannabis. However after getting approvals from the University’s Attorneys and from Director Swanson we have developed a fact sheet on some of the potential impacts from growing Cannabis. A big thanks to Bob Hammon, John Rizza and Doug Dean for creating the document: Current Impacts of Outdoor Growth of Cannabis in Colorado Please feel free to use it as needed but it is very important that it not be changed in any way. Also, data is pretty limited and we expect to be able to update this as time goes by.

4H Livestock Decision Tool

Click here for an excel spreadsheet developed by regional ABM Specialist Jesse Russell. Those of you that work with familes that have 4H livestock projects will find this useful. It helps people see what potential costs and returns are associated with different classes of market livestock.

Fair Season is Almost Here

I hope all of you that work at county fairs have a good time this year. Remember one bad apple shouldn’t ruin the whole event. (Personal experience on this one!!!!)

County Area Director Webinar Series

It has been one year since we started the Webinar Series to give brief updates on administrative issues. All of the RDs and Jan Carroll think that the series was a good opportunity to inform staff on various issues and policies. We will be suspending future webinars until after the CAD meeting in December and then start again. If you have specific topics you would like to see covered in the future please let me or Jan Carroll know.
