Congratulations to . . .

Bruce Fickenscher and Keith Maxey on completion of their master’s degrees in December from Colorado State University.

 Lou Swanson for being named to the APLU New Engagement Planning Team. See the article in ECOP Monday Minute is posted at http://ecopmondayminute.blogspot.com/2015/12/14.html. The team will recommend a process for establishing and engaging APLU members and stakeholders in a Task Force on “The New Engagement” for public higher education.

Kelley Rawlsky has accepted the position effective February. 8. Kelley has a MS in horticulture from Texas Tech University and has served as a master gardener in Oklahoma.

Annette Shipley accepted this position effective January 11. Annette has a BS in social work from St. Ambrose University and a MS in psychology from the University of Northern Colorado. She previously worked as a county and regional director for Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.

This new position closed December 29. Interviews are scheduled for February 11 and 12.

Personal Information: I grew up in Castle Rock CO. I am passionate about videography as well as the livestock industry. I enjoy the outdoors and spending time with close friends and family.

Job Experience: I began working at Colorado State University Extension as an intern in 2014. Prior to Extension, I worked as a wrangler in Estes Park.

Retta Bruegger

Name: Retta Bruegger
Title: Regional Extension Specialist, Range
Location: Western Region, Grand Junction, CO
Date of Hire: February 1, 2016

Personal Information: I was born and raised in the mountains of Colorado. I enjoy being outside, whether that is collecting data for range research, touring a pasture or allotment, or camping and hiking.

Job Experience: Prior to working for CSU Extension, I worked as the Outreach and Research Coordinator on the Learning from the Land project, out of CSU’s Warner College of Natural Resources. I’ve also worked on multiple interdisciplinary teams conducting rangeland research and outreach in Colorado, Arizona, and Mongolia. My research has included using targeted grazing and low-stress livestock handling to achieve vegetation management goals, herder observations of rangeland change, and state and transition models.

Christine Schinzel

Personal Information: I have a Master’s of Science in Family Studies & Human Services with an emphasis in Personal Financial Planning from Kansas State University and a Bachelor of Science in Animal & Veterinary Science with a Business Option from the University of Wyoming.

Job Experience: I have previously held employment positions in tax preparation and accounting, program technician work for the Farm Service Agency, various administrative, and college work with a feed store, veterinary clinic, and the Weed & Pest.

Annette Shipley

Name: Annette Shipley

Personal Information: I was born and raised in Iowa and spent my school breaks visiting my grandparents in Colorado. I am a former collegiate athlete and state champion in Track, Cross-Country, and Basketball. I enjoy the outdoors and gardening. I have one daughter who attends the University of Northern Colorado.

Job Experience: Prior to working at CSU Extension, I worked at Iowa State University Extension & Outreach as a County Director and Regional Director. Through Prelude Services (formerly MECCA Services), I managed three federally funded programs and two state funded programs along with providing Substance Abuse and Violence Prevention Services. Before working on federal and state grants I worked in two Iowa Public School Systems serving as a school counselor and on the administrative staff as the Pupil Services Coordinator.

Kelley Rawlsky

Personal Information: My husband and I moved from Oklahoma to Colorado in 2012. I enjoy hiking, football, dancing, gardening, yoga, cooking and nature photography.

Job Experience: Prior to finishing grad school, I did volunteer work in Tulsa, Oklahoma, including three years as a Master Gardener.
